“We must not allow charter schools or vouchers,” says the politician/teacher/union leader “because they take money away from the public education system.”

But, the parent says “But, my child…

has ADHD and this private/charter school specializes in educating children like mine with specially trained teachers.”

has Asperger’s syndrome and this private/charter school specializes in educating children like mine with specially trained teachers.”

has dyslexia and this private/charter school specializes in educating children like mine with specially trained teachers.”

has physical limitations and this private/charter school specializes in educating children like mine with specially trained teachers.”

has behavioral issues and this private/charter school specializes in educating children like mine with specially trained teachers.”

is at risk of dropping out and this private/charter school specializes in educating children like mine with specially trained teachers.”

is gifted in music and this private/charter school specializes in educating children like mine with specially trained teachers.”

has dreamed of being an astronaut and this private/charter school specializes in science and technology and educating children like mine with specially trained teachers.”

has dreamed of becoming a nurse/doctor and this private/charter school specializes in careers in the medical field and educating children like mine with specially trained teachers.”

has dreamed of becoming a teacher and this private/charter school specializes in careers in the education field and educating children like mine with specially trained teachers.”

has religious convictions and this private school specializes in educating children like mine with specially trained teachers.”

’s school is dangerous and this private/charter school is safe.”

The politician/teacher/union leader then responded to the parent, “We are sorry, but our top priority is that the public schools have enough money, not that your child has their educational needs met.”  So they lumped all these children with diverse interests, dreams, cultures, backgrounds, religious or non-religious beliefs, abilities, special needs, behavioral issues and demanded the teacher meet all of their individual needs.

Just in case…this is satire
